The Linden Club: Hospitality Millwork Installation

Precision Cabinets & Millwork installed the stained-walnut architectural millwork at The Linden Club, a mid-century event venue in Long Beach: the circular bar with its slatted center column and canopy, terrace bar casework, a library built-in, vanities, lobby partitions and an arched window frame.

We are an installation-only contractor. General contractors and millwork manufacturers bring us in to install millwork fabricated by others.

Project background

The Linden Club, a 1958 clubhouse on Linden Avenue in Long Beach, CA

The Linden Club's building opened in May 1958 as the Long Beach Petroleum Club, a mid-century clubhouse with a ballroom for more than 500 and an immense circular bar (Longbeachize).

Today it is an event venue with spaces that include the Uptown Ballroom, Terrace Room and Finery Bar & Lounge (The Linden Club). The circular bar is the centerpiece of the installation shown here; the terrace bar, library built-in, lobby partitions and vanities are in the photos below.

Scope of installation

Hospitality millwork we installed

  • Circular bar: curved base cabinetry and a center column clad in stained-walnut slats, rising into a flared, radiused canopy.
  • Terrace bar: an arched display wall with wood shelving and mirrors, casework with adjustable shelving, and slatted equipment doors.
  • Library built-in: a symmetrical wall of open shelving and base cabinets, about 29 feet wide, fitted around the existing piano.
  • Preparation rooms: four stained-walnut vanity base cabinets with subtops.
  • Lobby partitions: two floor-to-ceiling screens, about nine feet tall, with rounded openings.
  • Arched window frame: a custom walnut frame, plus brass pulls and knobs on the casework.

The centerpiece

Installing the circular bar

The bar is a full ring of curved base cabinetry, coordinated with the stone top. At its center, a column of vertical walnut slats is lit from behind, so every gap between the slats reads as a line of light.

Above the column the slats turn outward into a flared, radiused canopy. The slat spacing on the column carries up into the canopy, and the whole piece is seen from every side of the room.

Behind the bar, the painted library built-in frames the far wall around the piano.

Yes. The Linden Club's circular bar and canopy are radius work, and our Marlowe Sand Canyon project in Santa Clarita includes a radius reception desk.

Do you install millwork in bars, restaurants and event venues?

Yes. We install bars, back-bar displays, built-ins and wall features in hospitality interiors, working for general contractors and millwork manufacturers.

Do you install bar and restaurant millwork in Long Beach and Orange County?

Yes. The Linden Club is at 3636 Linden Ave in Long Beach, and we install commercial millwork and casework across Los Angeles County, Orange County and the rest of Southern California, including Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Westminster. See our licensing and coverage.

Bidding a bar, restaurant or event venue interior?

Send plans or shop drawings (a link is fine), the project location, your bid date and schedule, and who is supplying the millwork, and we'll price the installation.
